Mulawarman International Conference on Tropical Public Health

Theme :
"Global Health for Sustainable Forestry Development to Support The New National Capital City (IKN) Transition"

Mulawarman International Conference on Tropical Public Health (MICTOPH) is an annual international conference organized by the Faculty of Public Health (FPH), University of Mulawarman. This activity aims to contain and unite various constructive and comprehensive ideas, which will become the basis for efforts to solve problems in the field of public health. The first MICTOPH was successfully implemented in 2022 by inviting speakers from four countries (Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Australia) and involving several universities, including the University of Jember, the University of Halu Oleo, and the University of Muhammadiyah East Kalimantan as co-hosts.

The first MICTOPH agenda with the topic "Digital Health for Public Health on Post-Pandemic COVID-19" was held in full online, taking into account the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic that hit all countries. Passive participants in the first MICTOPH were 338, while active participants were divided into oral presentations (89 participants) and posters (25 participants). The target participants for this international conference are students (S1, S2, S3), alumnus, and professionals in the fields of health and education (target participants: 500 people). Participants will get certificates for both attending as presenters and participants after participating in conference activities. oral presenters and seminar participants will get certificates with SKP (employee performance goals) of professional organizations (IAKMI and PERSAKMI).

For the second implementation, MICTOPH will raise a topic related to "Global Health for Sustainable Forestry Development to Support the New National Capital City (IKN) Transition". This topic is based on a global health problem that is of serious concern and has become an international health problem. Broad and multidisciplinary coverage related to global health includes issues of climate change, disasters, epidemics, communicable and non-communicable diseases, food security, health service systems, and regulations, as well as maternal and child health. The Indonesian government's decision to move the National Capital from Jakarta to East Kalimantan also provides important attention and raises a multi-sectoral perspective. There is a potential for changes in the natural cycle of ecosystems and population as a result of land use as a candidate for a new capital city. Population migration from their natural habitat poses a risk of causing various health problems, such as infectious diseases and zoonosis. In addition, Borneo, a tropical rainforest island, will encourage efforts to increase its sustainability and function, both of which have a significant effect on climate change. Based on this justification, various strategic attitudes are required to prevent and resolve potential global health problems that may emerge on a global scale. Multidisciplinary perspectives from different countries will be presented in order to provide a comprehensive perspective on the efforts being made to create solutions to global health problems.
